Disability Connection Community Playground for South Mississippi - The Disability Connection Community Playground was completed in May of 2012. The new playground has a variety of specialized equipment designed for everyone to play, a lighted walking track, benches, accessible bathrooms, shade, and ample parking. The playground is located at the Bruce Ladner Memorial Park, just West of Hwy 49 in Hwy 53 in Harrison County.
The Arbor Day 5K-1 Mile Run/Walk/Roll & 1/4 Mile Challenge and Celebration - A two day event full of food, music, fun, and disability awareness designed to encourage people with disabilities to actively participate in a healthful run. Brought in partnership with the Gulf Coast Running Club. ”Celebration of Health” takes place at the Donal Snyder Community Center, Biloxi, MS from 9:00am-1:00pm (FREE EVENT). “Arbor Day 5k – 1 Mile Run/Walk/Roll” takes place at the Town Green across from the Hard Rock Casino in Biloxi, MS (REGISTRATION FEE)(about 800 participants) (February 15th & 16th, 2013)

Art Ability Fair - A free day of professional art classes for those with disabilities age 8-adult. Pottery, music, photography, art, painting, glamour make-over, dance and more are shared by the Walter Anderson Museum, Lynn Meadows Discovery Center, the Mary C O’Keefe Cultural Center and others to include nonprofit agencies, businesses, artists, art teachers, and community volunteers.(about 400 participants) (Thursday, April 11, 2013)

Mayor’s Disability Awareness Health Fair – The City of Biloxi and Disability Connection co-host this event in the month of October. A free day at Edgewater Mall in Biloxi with health screenings, information by over 40 providing organizations, disability awareness games, face-painting, free stuffed animals, and inclusive stage entertainment by both children’s groups and groups with members who have disabilities. Designed to foster diversity awareness and provide resource information to the community. (about 800 participants) (Friday October 18th, 2013)
Performing Friends – An event to allow people with disabilities to showcase their talents. Following a successful stand alone event in 2009, this stage is now combined with the Mayor’s Health Fair.
People with Disabilities/Disabled Veterans Job Fair - In observation of National Disability Month. The U.S. Department of Labor’s (DOL) Office of Disability Employment Policy has announced the 2012 theme – “A Strong Workforce is an Inclusive Workforce: What Can YOU Do?” The theme highlights the benefits of a diverse workforce that includes workers with disabilities. Almost 80 Organizations participate in this event that provides resource & job information to enforce and enrich our community in support of our wounded warriors, people with disabilities, and others who have barriers to employment. A pre-event workshop focuses on bridging the gap between employees and employers.(650+ participants, 500+ unemployed individuals, 140 Veterans) ( Thursday November 7th, 2013)
